Compare any two graphics cards:
Geforce GTX 680 vs Radeon HD 6990
IntroThe Geforce GTX 680 uses a 28 nm design. nVidia has clocked the core frequency at 1006 MHz. The GDDR5 memory works at a speed of 1502 MHz on this model. It features 1536 SPUs as well as 128 Texture Address Units and 32 ROPs.Compare those specifications to the Radeon HD 6990, which has core speeds of 830 MHz on the GPU, and 1250 MHz on the 2048 MB of GDDR5 RAM. It features 1536 SPUs along with 96 Texture Address Units and 32 ROPs.

Power Usage and Theoretical BenchmarksPower Consumption (Max TDP)
Memory BandwidthTheoretically, the Radeon HD 6990 should be a lot faster than the Geforce GTX 680 in general. (explain)
Texel RateThe Radeon HD 6990 should be quite a bit (about 24%) faster with regards to texture filtering than the Geforce GTX 680. (explain)
Pixel RateThe Radeon HD 6990 should be a lot (approximately 65%) faster with regards to anti-aliasing than the Geforce GTX 680, and also able to handle higher screen resolutions while still performing well. (explain)
Please note that the above 'benchmarks' are all just theoretical - the results were calculated based on the card's specifications, and real-world performance may (and probably will) vary at least a bit. One or more cards in this comparison are multi-core. This means that their bandwidth, texel and pixel rates are theoretically doubled - this does not mean the card will actually perform twice as fast, but only that it should in theory be able to. Actual game benchmarks will give a more accurate idea of what it's capable of. Price Comparison

Memory Bandwidth: Memory bandwidth is the largest amount of information (in units of megabytes per second) that can be transported over the external memory interface in a second. The number is worked out by multiplying the card's bus width by its memory clock speed. In the case of DDR RAM, it must be multiplied by 2 again. If DDR5, multiply by 4 instead. The better the bandwidth is, the faster the card will be in general. It especially helps with AA, High Dynamic Range and higher screen resolutions. Texel Rate: Texel rate is the maximum number of texture map elements (texels) that are processed in one second. This figure is worked out by multiplying the total amount of texture units by the core clock speed of the chip. The better this number, the better the card will be at handling texture filtering (anisotropic filtering - AF). It is measured in millions of texels applied in one second. Pixel Rate: Pixel rate is the maximum number of pixels that the graphics chip can possibly write to the local memory per second - measured in millions of pixels per second. The number is calculated by multiplying the number of Render Output Units by the the card's clock speed. ROPs (Raster Operations Pipelines - sometimes also referred to as Render Output Units) are responsible for outputting the pixels (image) to the screen. The actual pixel rate is also dependant on many other factors, especially the memory bandwidth of the card - the lower the bandwidth is, the lower the potential to get to the max fill rate.
